Im a "new kid" to poetry, so I would really appreciate any help you could give, and any constructive advice.
Take this flower
A beauteous pearl
Petals moist from the morning dew.
A sparkling jewel
In this field of luscious green.
Do I
Or you
Control it?
No
To say we did would be a sin;
It eats and seeds and grows and weeds
Whenever it wishes
We do not control it.
Do I
Or any
Own it?
No
To say we did would be a lie;
For none can stop passers by
From catching it with a wandering eye
We do not own it.
Do I
Or any
Care for it?
No
To say we did would be fantastic
For who would care for such a small flower
We pave over it, pick it, kill it without a thought
We do not care for it.
Why must we own the flower to admire it?
Why must we control the flower to understand it?
Why must we kill the flower to make use of it?
Take this flower,
This beauteous pearl
For now there are no more.
