A CORNER IN MY MIND

There is a corner in my mind
Quiet, dark and cavernous deep
Where I could go, and surcease find
From soulful sorrow that I keep.

I've often thought of going there
And like a blanket wrap the dark
Around my weary shoulders bare
To leave the world, and heal its mark.

It must be fear that keeps me out.
It may be courage that I lack.
For if I go, I have no doubt
Not even love could bring me back.
