No man can stand against the will of the people. |
There are an estimated 6.1 billion people living on earth. 61% of them are adults ranging from 14 to 65 years old. And that time between the 25th of January and the 11th of February – it is my belief (and no one can ever succeed in persuading me that it is wrong) – all of these adults were watching anxiously the events going on in Egypt. Some might say (and plenty did) say I am very much exaggerating, or being biased. But I seriously doubt that the entire world wasn’t mesmerized in front of the news screens during those 18 days that witnessed the greatest event the modern world has ever seen. Revolutions and uprisings occur every day (ask South America and the poor African countries no one heard about). But they always guarantee famine and bloodshed. But has the world ever heard about a revolution starting through a Facebook event? Has the world ever seen tens of millions spontaneously gather in one place for 18 days in the cold and rain without food, water, and sometimes electricity? They cheered, chanted, cried, fought, died, and slept together with absolutely no count of theft or harassment of any kind. They all believed in a cause and showed the world what the power of 'want and need' can do to a nation which the entire world thought had long lost their pride and their voice. For 18 days, the whole world saw the greatest movie of all time which took 30 long years in the making. It had the necessary elements that qualified it as an exciting yet scary movie you just can't look away from. It had the opening scene of the murder of Khaled Said, followed by the anger of the people and their calls for freedom. It had the plot of millions of people simultaneously gathering in the streets, the thrill of maneuvers coming either from the knight in shiny armor (the Egyptian people) or the evil villain (the Fallen Regime), the climax lasted not for 10 minutes, but for weeks. And finally we come to the end as the evil villain crumbles and falls after realizing the devilish plot he had been cooking all his life shriveling and deteriorating in front of him, followed by the scene of the millions of people who were yesterday fighting for their freedom, today are cleaning up behind them, returning Egypt to the state it once was – the most beautiful place one can see. Finally, the credits appear in front of us as the cast, director, editor, and producer are the same people: The Proud Martyrs. For those of you who take pride in their youth; saying they are the brightest and are the most able in the world… Can they do what our youth have done? For those of you who see glory in saying they possess the most powerful army on the planet… Can your army do what our army did? Our army that Muhammed (Peace be Upon Him) described them as 'Khayr ajnad al ard' meaning "The best soldiers of Earth". Even Adolf Hitler once said "If I had an Egyptian soldier to go along with my German arms, I could take over the world!" For those of you who say that I'm wrong or exaggerating. I'm sorry; you are wrong, and blind if I may. For 18 days the whole world became amazed by 80 million very simple and very poor yet very generous people. If there is (and I sincerely doubt there is) a person out there who watched anxiously what was going on in Egypt and saw what these magnificent people were doing without as much as wishing he was among them… chances are he never will. |
