Song for the Vigilant

Dancing flame high in the sky,
Lancing down with golden rays.
New growth and life on soil lie,
Under the blistering, silent gaze.

On mountains high the sun looks down,
Through valleys deep it carves a path.
In winter’s dark appears to frown,
In summer’s warmth, a silent laugh.

Of birds and beasts it knows not one,
Of life and death, they pass right by.
This glowing orb they call the sun,
A quiet vigil, an unending sigh.
