Mr. Macaroni was an ordinary penguin.

But what he loved most of all wasn’t very penguin at all.  He loved the SUN most of all!

Most of the year at the South Pole where Mr. Macaroni lived, there wasn’t much sun.  Some days the sun was only out for an hour.  Some days the sun didn’t come out at all!

One day Mr. Macaroni read a book about a wonderful place where the sun was out all year long.  Hawaii!  So he decided to get in his boat and sail away to Hawaii.

On the first day Mr. Macaroni met one otter.  Mr. Otter asked, “Where are you going Mr. Macaroni?” “I am going to Hawaii.”  “Please, can I come too?” asked Mr. Otter.  “Of course you can!” said Mr. Macaroni.

One the second day he met two turtles.  Mr. and Mrs. Turtle asked “Where are you going Mr. Macaroni?” “I an going to Hawaii.”  “Please, can we come too?” they asked.  “Of course you can!” said Mr. Macaroni.

On the third day he met three trout.  The Trout family asked “Where are you going Mr. Macaroni?”  “I am going to Hawaii.””Please can we come too?” they asked.  “Of course you can!” said Mr. Macaroni.

On the fourth day he met four frogs.  The Frog family asked “Where are you going Mr. Macaroni?”  “I am going to Hawaii.””Please can we come too?” they asked.  “Of course you can!” said Mr. Macaroni.

On the fifth day he met five flamingos.  The Flamingo family asked “Where are you going Mr. Macaroni?”  “I am going to Hawaii.””Please can we come too?” they asked.  “Of course you can!” said Mr. Macaroni.

On the sixth day he met six sharks.  The Shark family asked “Where are you going Mr. Macaroni?”  “I am going to Hawaii.””Please can we come too?” they asked.  “Of course you can!” said Mr. Macaroni.

On the seventh day he met seven sheep.  The Sheep family asked “Where are you going Mr. Macaroni?”  “I am going to Hawaii.””Please can we come too?” they asked.  “Of course you can!” said Mr. Macaroni.

On the eighth day he met eight elephants.  The Elephant family asked “Where are you going Mr. Macaroni?”  “I am going to Hawaii.””Please can we come too?” they asked.  “Of course you can!” said Mr. Macaroni.

On the ninth day he met nine newts.  The Newt family asked “Where are you going Mr. Macaroni?”  “I am going to Hawaii.””Please can we come too?” they asked.  “Of course you can!” said Mr. Macaroni.

On the tenth day he met ten tarantulas.  The Tarantula family asked “Where are you going Mr. Macaroni?”  “I am going to Hawaii.””Please can we come too?” they asked.  “Of course you can!” said Mr. Macaroni.

By now Mr. Macaroni’s boat was very crowded.  But all the animals had become very good friends even though they were all so different.

On the eleventh day they met an eagle flying over head.  “Mr. Eagle” Mr. Macaroni called “Which way to Hawaii?” “Follow me!” replied the eagle.

So they followed Mr. Eagle right to the islands of Hawaii where they finally got off the boat: ten tarantulas, nine newts, eight elephants, seven sheep, six sharks, five flamingos, four frogs, three trout, two turtles...

And one very happy, Mr. Macaroni.
