My thoughts on modern music and its effects |
All humans enjoy music of some sort; I would even go so far as to say the music you love defines a piece of you as a person. The thing that amazes me is not only the evolution of music as a whole in the past 75 or so years but the evolution of the behavior it induces. Now let me plainly state that I am not one of those Satan’s music hidden message finding crazies, however there are a few key things to just think about when thinking about this subject. I notice it with my children the actions they portray that they have seen on videos or the language they use that they have heard on songs. These things are issues I don’t believe we have always seen. Now I don’t attribute this to the beat or the tempo of the specific song. I think it is mainly due to the content of the songs mainly the lyrics. I love music it can make you smile or cry depending on what you’re listening to and what emotion you are trying to bring out. Yes I said what emotion you’re trying to bring out I.E. I am feeling down so maybe a sad song will help me through this time, or I have no motivation so I am going to listen to something upbeat to help get me going. When want to listen to something people have a style or type of music they lean towards like rap or Country and so on and so forth. What is interesting is the things that are being said are far different than what music was about in the past. The topics have drastically changed since the days of say Sinatra or Bing Crosby. Why? Maybe the world is just a different place, or maybe because of what we pollute our minds and our children’s minds with makes us behave different and in turn that has made our culture into something far different than it used to be. I don’t have all the answers however this is an interesting subject that I think requires far more research and thought. |
