Needs re-visiting, written at young age but, as usual, important subject matter! |
You’re living your life on the glass being half full But to some it is empty and there’s nothing to rule Some people are penalised for fighting through life No water; no food for the child, husband, wife There’s people abused by the one’s meant to care Going home to fear and to nothing that’s fair The heartache, the hurt, and the treatment they receive It’s all so different from the world you perceive Some stories of past are diluted and told But they forget the big picture and are not fully whole There are people around us whose heart beats the same But the horrors of their life could get them true fame Try not to see what you choose and no more Listen and look to the things once ignored Open your eyes to the world, the earth Nothing is perfect and this you need to observe Look at the wars, the violence and fights No peace between worlds that don’t do what is right Open your eyes to the bright red that’s blood To the soldiers who are lying lifeless in mud There are horrors, pain and suffering today Please don’t be naive; just look a different way Inequality, bullying, these things are no good Homophobia, racism and hunting not for food This world is a mess and there’s not much we can do But believe it will change and see the right view We cannot share peace; there would still be those fights But we can open our eyes and share the true sights |
