Guardian Lover

Chapter 1

Another weekend without a date.  Lexy sighed inwardly as she scanned the shipment of books with the handheld device.  It just wasn’t fair!  She had thought that Caleb, the really hot guy with sexy green eyes from history class would have asked her out by now.  She’d given him plenty of hints.  She’d flirted openly.  God, she’d practically given him a lap dance at Megan’s party last week.

Working the stray strand of hair back behind her ear as she chewed her lip, Lexy transferred the books to the cart.  She just didn’t get it.  Maybe, he was gay.  Maybe he just didn’t like her.  No, it couldn’t be either one because first of all Megan used to date him and he was all over her. Secondly, he practically had his tongue down her throat last week as she sat straddling him on that patio chair.  The only thing between them was her bikini bottom  and his shorts.  Neither left much to the imagination and they would have continued if his buddy Benny hadn’t gotten into a fight with Megan’s brother.  Well, she thought it might have continued.

         “Hey Lex. Caleb call?”

“No” Lexy really didn’t want to discuss this with Cari.  She really didn’t wish to discuss it with anyone.

“Man, I thought he was totally into you last week.  What gives?”

“I don’t know.  I thought he was too, but” she did a mental run down of her list of signals.  Yep, they all pointed to the same conclusion. “haven’t heard from him since.”  Lexy put the last of the books on the cart and started wheeling it towards the door.  “Whatever.”  The edge in her voice had a distinct bite to it.  She tried not to let the hurt show, but was certain that Cari could read her.  It wasn’t Cari’s fault, and she was being a bitch to her BFF.  “Sorry”  She let out a huge sigh and threw her head back, staring at the ceiling as if it held the answers to understanding guys.  Keeping her hands on the cart to brace the disappointment that churned inside from coming to the surface, she glanced back at Cari.  “My life sucks, ok?  A hot guy wouldn’t notice me if I fell on top of him.”
