"To Ever Dream So Far"
My freedom waits outside the gates
and days are standing still.
This seething rage dwells in a cage,
for a spirit's hard to kill.
Razor wire fuels the fire
of dreams beyond the fence.
The steel bars have left their scars,
my sadness is immense.
So many nights I've seen the lights,
reflections are surreal
time gets old a heart grows cold,
and never seems to heal.
At break of dawn upon the lawn
the seagulls start to fly.
for they will strive to stay alive
and each day so will I.
The gulls ascend and in the end
I long for where they are.
Then like the breeze I pass with ease;
to ever dream so far.
