Some weeks ago, the big news of Ben Laden killed by a covert US forces, --in a movie-like operation-- reminded us that we, humans, enjoyed action movies. Regardless of doubts about Ben Laden’s death or whether he was ilegally killed, we openly enjoyed the “used of lethal force.” Didn’t we.
Because the operation was perpetraded by a legitimate entity, the USA government, it can not be framed as a direct, unlawfull killing. And as anybody can testify, a state has the right, and the responsability, to self defence. And self defense is permisible under international law. The killing may have been a sort of ‘venganza’ (revenge), but a violation of “international law” is definetely out of the picture.
Now, debates about the legality of the action will go on for months, and maybe years. But what Ben Laden’s death definetly showed us is that humans are still in love with brute force, commandos, and J.I. and Jane Joe. We love the killing, the gossip, or all of the above.

In a situation room an exclusive group of folks gather to be brief about the hunt for a high value target. Among the presents is the ex-president George W. Bush.
The presenter explains the action and shows photos of the premises, the commandos, aircraft used, etc.
At certain moment the presenter says,
-”And we can see here our target with one eye.”
To what Mr. Bush, covering one of his eyes asks,
-”Are you equivocally sure that is Geronimos ?”

Whether we should be ashamed of human kind for allowing it to happen is questionable, but man, undoubtly most of the  media around the globe was on “america killed Ben Laden” state of mind. And millions upon millions of morbid eyes watched, read, or ate pop corn while following the news. At least I did it.
You could see on tv how in some countries anti-terrorism folks waving flags, celebrating, and blathering. And they all look as ‘extras’ of one of those super-action movies of modern Holliwood.
Japanese destructive earthquake, poverty in Africa, economic upheaval, even my favorite Korean drama  were into oblivion.
The most primitive sentiments of men showing openly and proudly.
Aren’t we the smartest animal to ever roam the surface of planet earth ?
