Just a quick whimsy of a poem for the Writer's Cramp Contest, about a call to a helpline.
PC Trouble

‘Hello?’ I enquired
As a start to my call,
‘Hi there!’ was the curt reply,
‘Can I help you at all?’

‘Why yes as it happens’,
Awakening from my trance.
(After hours of muzak,
I jumped at the chance)

‘You see it’s my computer,
It simply won’t start’
‘I’ll put you through to an expert-‘
And it was back to Mozart

Finally I spoke to the ‘expert’,
With voice of perfect monotone,
For the time I had waited,
I had hoped for more than this drone.

She gave me the tips,
The tricks to perform.
With two minds together,
We tried to brainstorm

With fury I fiddled with buttons -
Flicked switches till I fumed,
Only to be told,
‘I’m afraid your computer is doomed.’
