IN THE LAND OF THE LOST Once I was young with a good future ahead, I took the wrong path, one filled with dread. I knew not where it would lead me that day but the desire to go took my breath away. I traveled the path anyway, without hesitation, knowing the way would be quite a revelation. Through green forests to mountains rising high, I felt wild and free as I searched the blue sky. I was looking for the thrill of an eagle in flight, and the sight of the wilderness gave me delight. Deer roamed free right there in an open clearing, and they didn't seem to mind that I was nearing. A red fox darted across the path ahead of me, looking neither right or left, unaware and free. Moose and bear traveled the woods together, I knew that a peace like this could last forever. Setting down on an the hillside, I was in awe of each wild creature that these old eyes saw. Weary of the walk, I needed a rest to go on, I was wrapped in the warmth of a bird's song. Soon the sun was setting, I must turn back, to the life I lived before I completely lost track; My dreams would somehow hold me here, leaving all the things I knew and held so dear. In the land of the lost, all the answers came, and I knew my life would never be the same. Amid the hectic rush and worries of my life, I had found a peace that would end my strife. The wild and free of the mountains and sky would forever be remembered as years go by. I never found that path again, I am sad to say, but I had it all for a time on a bright sunny day.
