The story of an android beginning with her origin. |
The girl rubbed her eyes as she awoke, “Where am I?” She glanced at her surroundings. It was too dark to see anything. She moved her arms, feeling around. She felt bars. Suddenly, the room was illuminated by a blinding light. The girl realized, as her eyes adjusted to the light, that she was in a cage. The cage war medium sized, with a rounded top. It was connected to a large machine with flashing buttons. The machine was large and lined the walls of the room. “So you are finally awake.” The girl turned to the source of the voice. A man stood there. He was tall, with long black hair that draped over his shoulders. He had a very slim, yet toned, build. He wore a jet black business suit with matching black dress shoes. He brushed the hair out of his eyes and walked over to the cage the girl was in. He picked up a clipboard that was attached from it and read it silently. “Project Valkyrie E-16. Elementalist. Code name: Witch.” “W-Who are you?” The girl’s voice trembled. The man smirked. “I am your creator. My name is unimportant. You may refer to me as master.” He moved to a panel of the machine that was connected to the cage and began pressing buttons. “Creator? What are you talking about? I’m a human being!” The girl looked panicked as she searched for answers. The man pressed one last button, opening the cage door. He turned to the girl. “A human you say?” He laughed as he approached her, “If this is true then tell me, what is your name?” She froze “I-I don’t know.” The man continued. “And where are you from? Who is your family?” The girl shook her head without speaking. The man stopped, “Alright, now I am going to give you some instructions and I want you to follow them to the letter.” He pulled a pen from his pocket, “Hold out your hand and picture in your mind a burning flame. I want you to feel the essence of heat.” The girl closed her eyes and did as she was told. When she opened her eyes, they were shining a bright red color. A small fire was raging in the palm of her hand. “What’s this?” She stared at the fire, entranced and confused. The man wrote something down on his clipboard, and then instructed her to visualize snow and ice. As she did, her eyes shined blue and the cage slowly began to freeze. A cold breeze swirled around in the airtight room. Her initial fear gradually beginning to recede, she turned to the man and asked, “What… am I?” The man wrote something else down on his clipboard, then addressed her. “Considering that you have been so cooperative, I believe that you have earned an answer.” He paused to clear his throat, “You are prototype E-16 of the Valkyrie project. Essentially, you are an organic android. You are exactly like a normal human, except better in every way. You are stronger, faster, smarter, and even more charismatic than any ordinary human. Also, as you have just demonstrated, you have control over the elements.” The man held out his hand. “Come with me. There are some tests that need to be done.” The girl hesitated, as if she was considering her options, and then took the man’s hand. He helped her up, and then led her across the linoleum floor to the staircase. |
