Writer's Cramp Challenge, 8 Sept. Thriller prompt.
Coming to Theaters Soon

Exterior: Ent. Bad Guy’s House, morning
Target spotted, carrying a blade with a curved shape.
The hidden watchers cannot give any forewarning.
Any mistakes and their quarry could again escape.

The report of a rifle broke the morning’s peace.
Face-down on the ground lay the wretched deceased,
Ending months of diligent work and searching by the police
For the kidnapping, torturing, butchering and taunting beast.

It started so many months ago,
In and around the town of Concord, Mass,
Actually, the area made famous by Henry David Thoreau
Now infamous for the grisly remains found in the grass.

The first discovery was made by a woman and her Dalmatian.
Photos and forensics were unapologetically intense.
Whoever committed this deed would suffer eternal damnation,
And as more were found, things got especially tense.

The police knew there was someone out there,
Who had no soul, no remorse, and an obsession.
The fiend left no clues, not a single hair,
Until the day they received a mailed anonymous confession.

The author knew too many intimate details to be an outsider.
Besides the truth, it contained much, long and rambling.
Unknown to be an intricate web spun by a cunning spider,
To keep the good guys, his enemies, scrambling.

Monumental crimes got the very best from the FBI,
Who investigated the dead ends, traps and red herring.
Continuing to comb the clues for anything awry,
They promised their perp payback, with much swearing.

As in any good fictional tale, there needs to be an ending,
Wherein our main character, being paid much for this role,
Giving his character flaws, yet whose sense of justice is unbending,
Will show everyone else, even the viewer, who is in control.

There will be action, violence, car chases and sex,
Wherein he will show off his brains, witty dialogue, and luck,
Perhaps we’ll see bare ass, and see how those muscles flex,
Perhaps he’ll be paired with a comedic sidekick with plenty of pluck.

In any case, our villain, no matter how clever,
Is going to be one sorry and most undoubtedly dead SOB,
Because the hero is one of the highest paid actors ever,
It’s pointless the scriptwriter gave him such a killing spree.
