I Am a Fan of The Game

I watch too much and I’m a fan of the game.
I grew up in the fifties and the game’s not the same.
They used to play for the love of the sport.
Now it’s mostly for the money, they want to own a resort.

I’m a fan of the game, of that there’s no doubt.
When our team loses, we often do pout.
We could be doing better things, I know.
But the teams often put on a really good show.

I wish I had the money to go to a game.
Television is wonderful, but it’s not the same
As being there in person, and hearing the crowd.
We all love our players, and of them we are proud.

What is it with us, we’re obsessed with our balls,
We need to see them, along with the brawls.
All sizes and shapes, we’ll toss them around.
Playing with our balls, is fun, we have found.

Now we pay our favorite players more than we care.
Sometimes I think it’s not really fair.
What could they do without their rubbery balls?
They might be able to get a job in the malls?

Are they really worth all that money?
Should they be pampered, it’s not really funny?
I love my balls, but it’s only a game.
I’m really a fan, but it’s become such a shame.

So many days are wasted on a fantasy game.
What have we become, we’re becoming so lame.
Don’t aspire to live your life through others.
Look around and help some of your brothers.

Forgive me for speaking out and postulating.
I’m a fan of the game, but now I’m not relating
To what’s happened to the game, and I often do fear,
For those of us that love our balls, and love to drink beer.

It really doesn’t matter which sport you talk about.
We love the game, even when it is a rout.
Maybe it’s time to give up your balls?
Help some of your friends, before the axe falls.
