I’ve got far too much not going on in my head to worry about coffee
The Modern Way

“I’ve got far too much not going on in my head to worry about where my next mocha-bocha-choco-latte is coming from” Me et al

The world is a bit scary. In a culture where the pinnacle of achievement is the gratification of someone granting you a sequence of numbers to go into your pot of already collected numbers to offset the even larger sequence of numbers someone else gave you but wants back, best not rest on your laurels too often hey. But then why not? What would really happen if one day we, the Borg, downed tools, said ‘meh’ and decided to spend our days living the good life. Growing our own food, paying no regard to the relative length of our fingernails, expanding our sense of wellbeing and decided to simply dedicate our lives to the pursuit of proving which fermented, liquefied fruit really does blow your junk from under you most effectively?

Ok so what would happen is that the numerous nuclear facilities dotting our planet would overheat, reach critical mass, implode, explode and wipe out life as we know it….there would be no one to advance medical technology further, depriving millions possible cures to their diseases, no one to teach our children to read and write thus depriving them of literary delights such as this. Each eventuality more ominous than the last I think you’ll agree. Eventually the effervescent image of becoming a wishy-washy, teary eyed, mountain man, swanning around a paddock in a loin cloth would wear off as we began to miss the lovely shiny things we swapped our well earned digital numbers for. Our gadgets would have had no place in our new age lives of course. There’s no app to eradicate the smell of living in a way which bestows you an odour consistent with a Sahara dwelling baboon wrapped in bacofoil, on a particularly hot day.

In conclusion, why is life always so complicated? Has anyone ever walked into Starbucks and just asked for ‘a coffee please’…I worry if I did the spirit people from the film Ghost would whisk me away to barista hell where I would be doomed to forever boil in foamy dairy products.
