Jealousy

Turns my blood black.

Stops it in its tracks.

Heats my brain and melts my thoughts
into one ticking time bomb of, “Why me?”

My head so heavy it could blow up.
Detonate at any one more glance

into a truth I cannot see.


So I construct a truth with a
faltered mind 
clouded by the
smokes of a senseless war,

the only kind that exists.

Enemy lines traced like
cell bars
 around my heart
imprison her beats
 until she
can no longer move.


That’s what hate does. 

It beats the life out of you.
