I guess you could say I wrote "Pain" in my worst moment, and "Hope" in my best:)
In this world I know,
There are things that hurt so.
The loss of one so close,
The pain of being alone,
The fear of the unknown
But most of all,
What makes man fall,
The loss of Hope.

That tiny spark that burns bright,
To all giving light.
What can we do without it?
How can this spark be unlit?
But a greater question than this,
How can we know what Hope is?
Where does it come from,
Is it only meant for some?
How is it attained?

Can it ever be gained?
Is there something we can do?
And more specifically,
What about me?
Well I have a newsflash for you,
There is something you can do.
It is really no great secret,
There is something you must believe.
And do not be deceived,

Though this is something you must feel
There is no doubt it is real.
For question number one,
Do not think this is only for some.
Hope is something that drives you on,
When all else is gone.
It is something you keep inside,
Something you cannot hide.

It is something to live for,
Whether rich or poor.
Hope is something that keeps you strong,
When all else is wrong.
Now for question number two,
There is something that you must do.
Someone you must know,
Someone that is more than a mere show.

There is one who laid down his life,
One who endured so much strife.
For people he did not know
For all who had sunk low
One who left his palace,
Without any malice.
For those that condemned him,
For those whose light was dim.

Who is this man you ask,
The one who was given such a task.
This man who gave all,
So that we could stand tall.
He who died so low,
Whose life faded so slow.
The one who paid the debt,
Of those he had never met.

This man is my savior,
One who will never waver.
He is the one who died on the cross,
He is the one who suffered so much loss.
He is Jesus Christ.
And I know what you’ve been told,
I know all the lies you’ve been sold.
But I have felt his love,
Gentle as a dove.

I have felt wounds healed,
I experienced old hates sealed.
I have felt my fears melt away.
I have heard him say,
“I love you,”
“No matter what you do!”
I know with him,
My light won’t ever dim.

I know he will never leave me,
No matter what he may see.
I know what it is like without him,
What it is like to drown in sin.
To feel a void deep inside,
Something that you cannot hide.
To live in despair,
Longing for air.

And I know what it like to come back to him,
Finally freed from the bondage of sin.
I know the joy of seeing prayers answered,
Of seeing him protect those around me.
I know that Jesus will always love me,
I know that he is the only one who,
No matter what I do,
Will stand by my side.
I know I he sees what is inside,

And still loves me,
Unconditionally.
I know that my parents would be dead,
If they had not always been lead,
By the one who knows every single hair on their heads.
By the one who comes to us in our beds,
To love and encourage us,
No matter how much we fuss.

You wanted to know what Hope is,
Well now you have this.
Hope is the God that made you,
The God that made all that you ever knew.
