A cryptic poem illustrating the old addage 'Becareful what you wish for!'.
God gave me the Earth, the Sun and the Moon
Unbeknownst to myself, it would spell certain doom
Shrouded in warmth while disguised by the light
I coveted its being, never leaving my sight
My soul I poured into it, growing it mighty and strong
Until it soared ever higher and it's rays reached beyond
Endlessly, ever onward forged the alien dawn
Maddeningly, methodical. Illuminating my wrong
Blindingly, emanating reflections of gold
The wrong? It turned right while I soon grew cold
Defeated and weary I coveting it not
I will lie down beside it and wither and rot
