a short naruto fanfic written after i watched one too many episodes... |
Part one “No Akamaru! Oh, get back here! Where did you get all this energy from? Hey! I need that!” the scene would certainly be funny to most. Here I am, a shinobi, struggling to retrieve my notebook from the mouth of a puppy. I am supposed to be much stronger than him! If the other genin saw this, they would most certainly laugh at me. As if they are able to do better! If they were in my position, they wouldn’t have much more success than me. “I leave you alone for a few minutes and you run off to pester the girls!” a joking voice came. “He’s no trouble Kiba, he is just…. persistent...” I panted, still trying to pry his jaws open, but his teeth kept their firm grip on the blue book. “Aww come now Akamaru, give the girl back her book!” the owner commanded, struggling perhaps even more than I did. After ten minutes it was starting to get rather annoying. “This is even worse than when I tried to take him for his annual health check...” I only laughed at the comment, now trying to think of a way to persuade the pup. Then it hit me. I reached into the pouch on my left leg, where all my ninja tools are kept. “What are you going to do Mia? You can’t threaten him with a kunai!” Kiba yelled at me, suddenly protective. “Of course not! Here Akamaru! If you want this, you must come take it. We can make a trade!” I said as I unwrapped the dumplings I bought from Amaguriama earlier today. They were still hot. It wasn’t long before the delicious scent caused him to drop the book and take the food from my hand. “Well, that seemed to work,” Kiba said standing up and picking Akamaru up from the ground. “I should’ve thought of it earlier,” I said dusting myself off. “Yes, that would have been helpful. Anyway, sorry about this.” “No matter, it only took up about fifteen minutes of my time. It’s not like I need to be anywhere,” I answered. It wasn’t exactly true though. I was supposed to be training with Team 7, but I wasn’t planning on going. Training meant having to see Sasuke again, and I wasn’t in the mood for yet another fight. For some reason, we simply can’t get along. Perhaps it had something to do with the choices he has made. My past wasn’t that different from his. My clan was also wiped out, by the Akatsuki. Yet, I don’t have any intention of becoming an avenger. He, on the other hand, will stop at nothing to gain power. I suppose our views differ as much as our personalities. I have my cold, silent moments but at least I am able to speak more than three words. Though I must admit that it would be silly to throw away a day of training just because of one guy. So, I quickly came up with a plan. “Kiba, do you think your teammates will mind if I come and train with you today?” I casually asked, hoping that I would be asked to come along. “You know that you are always welcome! Hinata will be thrilled. She is much more outgoing when she is around you and she really does look up to you.” The words almost made me blush. I have never considered myself a great ninja, despite of what everyone keeps telling me. I see myself as average. “We are going to train in the forest today.” As soon as the words left his mouth we sped towards the gate. At least the training went well. All we did was spar against each other, and I must say that I am now thoroughly exhausted. I won two out of the three, even though I did struggle against Kiba and Hinata. I lost to bug boy though, only because I was completely freaked out. I hope I didn’t hurt Shino’s feelings too much, but I truly am no fan of anything with more than four legs. Since sparring drained nearly all of my chakra, it was no surprise when I fell asleep the moment my head touched my pillow. A deep, dreamless sleep followed. I woke up to a strange sound. It sounded as if someone was on my roof. I tried to ignore the light tapping, thinking that it might merely be some birds, that is, until the steps became much louder. It was definitely a human being. Immediately my hand scrambled in my bedside drawer where I kept many ninja tools, and I grabbed a kunai just incase. Of course I wouldn’t attack immediately; it could either be friend or foe, and I wouldn’t want to kill a comrade by mistake. The strange footsteps grew louder and I tightened my grip on the weapon in my hand. If it was one of the sound ninja, I didn’t stand a chance. I might be strong, but defeating them would take a miracle. The person has just climbed through my window, and I can feel their presence in my room. I tried to slow down my breathing in order to fake my sleep. Perhaps they will simply go check the other rooms instead? But I had no such luck. The footsteps slowly approached me, not stopping until they reached my bed and sat down. Their weight could easily be felt. My heart felt as if it was going to jump out of my chest. It was now or never. Instantaneously my fears were forgotten as I grabbed the mysterious person and pushed the kunai against their throat... |
