Protect your heart
The walls have finally been rebuilt…..
Years and years of hard work…..

I look up, massive stone walls,
Magnifiicently daunting,

Images regress as I took in a deep breath,
Bent down slowly, carefully, as youth
Escaped into these walls, these walls
That were to protect

Images of summers where stones had fallen,
And time went backwards,
Where there was a period of shadows,
And we questioned would these walls be built,

To protect the kings heart,
I peered at my hands as the suns light faded,
And saw the scars from the hard work I gave,

The roughness as the stones themeselves,
As if we had become one,

I laughed…… weariness on my chest
A laugh that was deep, and rich, as it felt like 80 years
I spent……

Strategically planning a fortress that could not be taken,
Yet the only entrance made of iron support,
Would not easily be broken…..

You see the kings heart is my heart in which I had low walls,
And anyone could jump, climb, a free for all,

But I finally learned, that some things should stay out,

And some things should be let in……..

I sat in the shade,
Hand in hand,
With my bride,

Whose hands were also rough and scarred.
She had worked twice as hard,
To help me,
Protect my heart,,,,,,
