A poem based on my imaginative walks by the park... |
The Untitled Journey I walked down the road of heaven Calm and dark, I think it’s seven. For the angels shine bright above I felt calm, the feeling of love. I continued my journey now. I saw something glow I asked, “How?” A beautiful morning star Illuminating from afar! I felt mesmerized; I said, “Wow!” I saw God’s precious gift, now. I rushed towards the chosen path That leads me to a lone gray shaft. Then I came to purgatory A road made of man’s own story. I saw the road made of marble With written words ever stable. The surroundings are gray and bleak But the star from afar I seek. I reached a winding, crimson bridge. That hangs above a flaming ridge. I near the end of my journey The pass of hell, a true tourney; True, I said a simple prayer. “Protect me from the betrayer…” Now I took a cautious step As I prayed with every breath; I saw the evil around me Nearing me with hatred and glee I shut my eyes and prayed a psalm For the star, I offered this hymn. “Protect me now, o bright angel For I am now yours sweet damsel” I came through the begotten pass! The star before me now at last! The simple star now on my lap Brings me warmth, God’s heavenly tap! I stood up and looked behind me And remembered this long journey; A grand stairwell emerged behind Beautiful calls, in my mind. I climbed on the steps of heaven; I sang hymns until eleven. With the star by me, I see you. That it was you, how sweet and true. |
