A man becomes upset after his cellular device goes off.
Our character is walking in the downtown area of our city. He isn’t happy. He isn’t sad. He isn’t searching. He isn’t waiting. He is simply just following the current of the present. He stops to glance at a consumer item in a display window. Suddenly, our character’s phone makes a sound. Unfortunately, we do not know whether it is a call or text. We are also absent from the facts of who it is or from or what it says. Either way, whatever method of phone communication is in process, it has upset our character. It has upset him so much, that he throws the phone to the ground. This of course, destroys the device of communication. Our character now takes a seat on the curb close to what is left of the cellular. He glances at the device. Why? We do not know. Then, well, it starts to rain.

Time passes.

Raindrops start falling faster, harder, and in increasing numbers, our character stands. He stands as if an important decision has been made. He closes his eyes, looks up, and lets out a sigh. This is no normal sigh. This sigh is a heavy one. This is a sigh of release. He opens his eyes and looks straight ahead. He begins to run. Running fast. Then faster and faster. Feeding off of the reaction of his body. The harder it is to breathe, the faster he begins to run. The more pain that screams from his legs, the more satisfied he becomes. Soon, our character comes to a stop. His hands are on his knees and he is bent over. He is trying to catch his breath. Feeling the lack of oxygen, he drops in a fast exhausted motion. Not caring that concrete is the place of contact. His knees hit the ground and his head, again, hangs heavily. He begins to lift his arms, his face tilts toward the heavens, and a scream is released from the body of our character, or maybe, we should say he is screaming in hopes of a release.

Time passes.

Our character is on his knees. The rain is still falling. Soon he gets up and starts walking back the direction in which he just ran. With his head still hanging, He reaches the place where he destroyed the phone. He stops when the shattered device reaches his side. Standing there, he just stares at the remains.

Eventually, he picks up the what he can, and walks in the opposite direct from when the story began. We do not know where our character is going or even where it was he came from, but that isn’t what we really want to know. What we to know is about the phone. We are wondering who it was or what it said. What could possibly upset this character to the point that he would run in the rain and scream towards the sky? Yes, those are the answers we want. We almost feel that we need those answers, but we do not know this character personally. We are just strangers observing from a distance. So no, we will not get the answers we seek, but, that is how it goes sometimes, isn’t it? Some questions just never get answered...
