This is a short scene I wrote while trying to work on dialogue. It is a little violent.
Heart Attack

Jill looked from side to side, trying desperately to quite her breathing. Leaning up against the bedroom door she had closed behind her, she put her ear up it. Her eyes widened and began to well up with tears; she could hear the distinct rhythmic dragging drawing closer.

“How, how can he possibly know where I am?!” she spoke to herself. Jill stepped back from the door and prepared herself for what she knew was coming next. Suddenly the dragging noise stopped, she could hear the creature sniff the air. It quickly began snorting excitedly as it picked up her scent. Then a moment of silence, which seemed to go on forever, Jill, waited for what felt like ages. For a moment she was even tempted to believe the being had left.

Then the silence broke, with a guttural screech the creature threw its self against the door. Splinters of wood burst from the broken door frame as the putrid being stood in its wake, staring coldly into Jill’s eyes. It turned its head back and forth like that of a puzzled dog, as if it had seen Jill before.
“Why you, of all people, why did this happen to you. To us.” Jill spoke aloud, as the creature stood before her. She was able to look past the cloudy white ovals that use to be his eyes, she could see past the torn flesh and exposed rib cage. Jill was still able to see her husband in the creature that stood before her. The smell was over whelming, like that of rotting meat in the hot mid-day sun, it took all of her strength just to keep from vomiting.
The undead horror started to inch towards her, it paused for a moment as if to read her actions. The creature gazed at Jill for a moment longer, crocked its head sideways while releasing a deep slow growl. In an instant the horror leaped across the queen size bed and was upon her in seconds. With one swift motion Jill pulled the large kitchen knife from her robe and sunk the whole of the blade deep into the right temple of the creature, of her husband. The living corpse was no more, its cloudy white eyes went dull and rolled back, the creature’s body instantly fell limp and it slumped to the floor with a disgusting wet, sickening sound.

Jill burst into tears, she didn’t know if they were tears of happiness or terror, maybe both. She fell to floor next to the corpse and sobbed. “I’m sorry, I’m sorry” she repeated over and over again to the horror that lay beside her. She wasn’t use to this type of behavior; she’d been on the force for over 12 years. Seen some pretty horrible things, faced some serious dangers. But this was different, this was mind shatteringly different.

If only he had listed to her and left town like she asked, when all this went down. When the National Guard started loading up civilians. She asked him to leave, told him she would be right behind him as soon as she had finished locking down her district in the city. She was always loyal to the job first, she regretted that now. “I should have made you leave!” she screamed at the corpse. “I should have left with you, I should have just left with you and forgot about this god forsaken city”.  She lifted her head up and began to dry her eyes with the sleeve of her robe. “What am I going to do now?” she spoke as if there was someone else in the room with her, “I need to get my shit together”. She started to stand, using the bed next to her as a crutch. “What I need to do is get some clothes on”, Jill looked around the room, still dazed from the recent encounter. She quickly put on a pair of jeans and a sweat shirt, and then made her way into the bathroom to wash the blood off her hands, his blood.
