The Insane Merry-go-round

Just a thought before I fell asleep

Insanity is what my life has become
Putting out fires every day
Trying hard not to set myself ablaze
I feel it must be a cartoon I play

I work hard to make a living
Only to have my work thrown in my face
I pretend not to care and walk away
Barely making it through my work day

But I press on to the weekend
The ultimate goal of my work week
I’m working my life away, I think
A break in monotony is what I seek

A vacation perhaps
A hiatus of sorts is what I need
An umbrella in my drink
Sunsets on the beach

Nothing new to offset my days
The same merry-go-round
day in and day out
How do I make it stop before I fall down

Wishful thinking I’m sure it is
But for now I live this insanity
This monotonous cesspool of lunacy
It is driving me crazy
