Stars Alight

Stars, alight!
All around, ignite!
Darkness covers sable ground
As silence blankets the earth around
You and I, we sit in peace
With eyes that begin to cease
Their earthbound and floatsome gazes
Only to become lost in heavenly mazes
Where age old fires burn and wink
(They began before time imaginable, I think)
From time to time they fall to earth
Growing burning tails of blazing worth
Heaven’s lights glow on high
And we, well,
We just stare up into the sky.
