Buried Hope

The man. Embedded in a mountain of shadow.
It buries him,
seals him away
from everything.

He climbs the mountain of misery,
but there to drag him down,
are Sorrow and Solitude.

Does he have
the strength to
keep climbing?
Sorrow and Solitude
pull at his legs
as they scream.

He climbs on
by his arms alone.
It’s getting cold.

The wind is strong,
his journey long,
tired he is from both.

Will Salvation lie at the top,
or will he once again
be devastated?
Will the road
stay dark,
or will it finally
be illuminated?

He reaches the peak,
no one is there.
It is barren
and it is cold.
It is secluded
and Separated from
the rest of the world.

But what is that on the horizon?
He sees the light of hope.
She shines so bright in the distance,
so close, yet so far away.

She’s moving away,
but slower than before.
His heart swells
with newfound courage
as he comes closer to Salvation.
He begins the descent.
