tell me a tale of war
of the triumphant victories
and of the catastrophic defeats
tell me a tale of love
of gallant princes rescuing
angelic princesses
tell me a tale of creatures
of loathsome monsters
of enchanting beings
tell me a tale to whisk me
away from the truth of reality
into the depths of fantasy
where all can be forgotten
in the moment of a single word
tell me a tale to which I would
never want to return from
tell me a tale for me to lay down
and escape into my dreams
of a different time and place
