A poem about a strong relationship |
| With teeth of sharks, the wind is biting; drawing nips of blood that mosquitos would find inviting. Forcing me to hang on to my purse and hat, I feel assaulted, being blown to this and that. The hem of my skirt flutters in the wind and the buttons of my coat strain to let it all in. But I do not give up, every step making it harder to draw my next breath. A storm is brewing; I can feel it in my bones. The clouds concur, forming cyclones. But I ignore the storm because I have somewhere to be. A home that is strong because of you and me. Though at times it seems that our home could be blown in, our love has proven enough to defend. Let the wind gnash its teeth and let the rain come. Someday soon we will again see the sun. But for now I will take comfort in your arms and dare the storm to outdo your charms. Fear no longer has a hold on me. I will confront every battle, gladly. To be with you is worth every cut that bleeds, every breath that is cut short, every warning I don’t heed. Your kiss is like a dream fulfilled to a dying man, your arms, to a prisoner; suddenly a life without a plan. My life is yours; you pump life into my lungs. My heart beats only because of the sweetness that drips from your tongue. So let the storm come, let the sirens blow… None of it matters, because I’m coming home.
