Words of Beauty

A quick poem

I read your words and tears flood my eyes.
The beauty you express touches me inside.
Hungry for more, I read fervently;
taking in each word as if they are saving me.
I’ve so long needed to know you cared
and now I have proof; my feelings you share.
Joy engulfs me and my heart begins to pound.
I want to hug you…kiss you; share in the love we’ve found.
Your letter to the end I read
and with my shattered heart I finally see
that my feelings you do not share,
and now I have proof that you do not care.
Joy escapes me and darkness falls
for these words of beauty were not meant for me at all.
