A Writer's Cramp entry.
As I drift here among the stars,
Between the asteroids and Mars,
Comets appear in lunar ray
Doing their comet space ballet.
Early on they give me a thrill,
Fire like a barbecue grill,
Glowing so bright like comets do,
Holding me fixed like super glue.
I look ahead in time to see
Jupiter in his majesty,
Keeping me fixed in deep-space stares,
Lucky for me I brought lawn chairs.
Many's the time on Earth I’d be
Next to the fall of a dead tree.
O, but now the planets appear
Parading with their atmosphere,
Quaint from accretion long ago.
Rings of Saturn with icy glow,
Spinning moonlets, that awesome sight,
Tilted a bit in her delight.
Uranus knocked upon his side,
Vexed, perhaps, deprived of his pride.
Whitewater rafting is okay,
Xenial, though, with stars I’ll stay,
Yearning for cosmic strength and grace,
Zooming in love with outer space.
