Nights End

Through shadows past and dark of night,
Awake I stay in search of light.
No end in sight, my grief to bear,
Alone I sit in silent stare.
Greet the dawn with shallow eyes,
the morning sun, its course set high.
The morning air so fresh and sweet,
Another night past, my great defeat.
