A poem about escape from the past but at a price. |
-I will Shut Them Away- by Keaton Foster Closing the door Hammering it shut Never again Will I let what’s inside out Never again will I allow it To see the brightest sunlight In permanent darkness It must always remain In eternal night it must Forever be enshrined Part of many secrets to be kept Under such driven force That must never be taken back No one can ever know They would not understand How could they ever even begin I did what I was sure I absolutely had to But such need does not lesson Any of the shame associated With such acts of unbridled depravity I will shut them away Forever to be encased Is what I will confess to myself With each blow of the hammer Every bent nail will be driven straight Locking away what I know that Can never be allowed to be seen What can never again be faced I will shut them away And in turn save myself From what it would mean For them again to be free For me, darkness and truth Are one and the same Lies turned into salvation Are the only thing That can save me from All that I’ve done From all that I have Hammered shut… I Will Shut Them Away Written by Keaton Foster Copyright © 2012. |
