When Jairus' only child was gravely ill,
He heard of Jesus and His healing touch.
"Come, save my Daughter, Sir!" he cried aloud,
"She needs Your help, I love her oh so much!"
But throngs of people crowded round that day,
A multitude, all shouting out their pleas,
A woman losing blood was cured by faith,
She touched His garment, crouching on her knees.
Then people from the house came rushing up,
"It is too late to save her now," they said,
"There was a chance, but all last hope has gone,
She lies there, still and lifeless on her bed."
Then Jesus went to see her at her home,
He said "She is not dead, but sleepeth sound.
Arise dear maid!" He took her by the hand,
The maiden rose 'mid gasps from all around.
I gaze upon this icon every day
And pray for Lucy's healing by His grace,
The simple faith we show in Jesus' name
Consoles and comforts those who seek His face.
