Marcus woke up knowing that his life would never be the same. He started the morning as he started any other, with a quick shower, a cup of joe, and a plain toasted bagel. Marcus stepped out of his apartment and took in a deep breath of the fresh summer air. Instead of getting into his car and driving to work, he began to walk down the sidewalk. As Marcus walked the busy city sidewalk he smiled brightly and nodded at every pedestrian he passed, he even winked at a very pretty girl that caught his eye. Ten minutes into his walk he began to hum loudly. He felt good, better than he had felt his entire life. Marcus decided to stop in front of a tall building owned by some large corporation. He stood for a few minutes and watched as professional looking men and women came and went without taking even a second to enjoy the bright and beautiful day. He went in and headed for the closest elavator. He bobbed his head to the elavator music and checked his watch. It was 10:13 am when the elavator reached the top floor. He stepped out and navigated through the many cubicles as if he belonged there. When Marcus got to the far wall opposite the elavator he pulled a shiny little revolver from his pocket. He fired on the five people closest to him with the accuracy of a trained marksman. All headshots. All died. Chaos broke out. Still smiling Marcus put the barrel of the gun to his own head and relieved it of its final bullet. |
