CLASH!

Like any other tournament, individuals or teams are paired up each round to face off duel-style. In this case, your teammate is your character. It is your job to guide your character to victory each round, by writing a story in which your character somehow out-performs your opponent's character. Usually, it involves beating your opponent's character into submission - but it can also be a battle of wits, a lucky break for your character, or even a team-up of characters, with yours leading the way. Whatever it is, only one writer can move on to the next round. Make your character the hero (or the triumphant villain)!

Another key part of this is that, yes, you have to write your opponent's character as well as your own - and you have to write them both well! Of course, we will have character sheets and auditions to help with that, and you're always encouraged to communicate with your opponent.

The character reference should explain anything worth knowing about the character(s) you’ll be using. (You may use a group of up to three characters, but one is preferred.) What does he look like? How does she feel about life? What are the character’s nervous tics, mannerisms, way of talking, and odd habits? This item should have a profile structure.

The introductory story should help to solidify what you say in the character reference, bringing your character to life. It also needs to explain how and why the character is getting involved. Introductions are limited to 2,000 words.
