Dear Me, Hey you, yeah you, I'm talking to you Jeff. This is your muse calling whom you have ignored for too long. I know you write everyday but I think you may be writing just to give yourself something to do. I want you to keep me company and utilize my talents and see what I can do for you. I was about to give up a few times and throw away the key so you couldn't unlock the potential that is inside. I keep on knocking and rattling ideas around in that head of yours but you seem to find other things to do. I'm extremely happy that a new year is upon us and I hope that I can get things rolling for you. I'm tired of getting interrupted by what's on TV or errands that you have to do. I want you to take at least an hour out of your day to sit down and write something towards finishing that novel. You know that novel isn't going to get done if you get complacent and do the same thing everyday. I'm excited to see that you are putting a plan into motion. I am ready to help you put a daily plan into action. I will be waking you up everyday motivating you to put words on a computer screen so that we can see your writing come to life. I don't want any excuses, all I want to see is a positive attitude. I will suggest that you find someone who can motivate you everyday. Don't find just anyone who wants to talk about the day but who is serious about writing. My heart did a double take when you joined Writing.com. I was doing a happy dance knowing that this is a step in the right direction. You can't ignore the possibility of where a site such as Writing.com can take you. I want you to get on it everyday and be involved whether it's to participate in the writing prompts or to share with fellow writers. You will find plenty on the site to jump start your creative juices. There should be nothing keeping you from writing at least one hundred words a day. I know that daily life with the jobs and kids will cause grief but don't let that hinder you from completing your goals. I know that if you put your mind to the task and you look at your goals everyday you can do it. I urge you to put a note on your mirror that will keep you motivated. The note doesn't have to be elaborate, just a simple note that says write everyday. I get lonely and need to be exercised every day. Hey, the more you write the better you will get. Don't ignore the possibilities of where I can take you. The next time you have a free minute, start writing. I get excited when you put me to the test and force me to do some work. I look forward to the opportunity of proving myself. I want you to take that initiative to knock on my door and wake me up. I understand that writing is a tough job but you need to overlook that fact. I'm here for you and I don't mind the company. One other thing is don't be stuck on that novel. Yes, I want you to finish it this year, but I also want you to write another children's story. You already have a story published; therefore, you need to follow up with another one. I enjoy the balance of writing for different genres and would love to break away from the novel. We can always come back to it. The novel isn't going to run away. We can write some of it one day and work on the children's story the next day. If you must, I'm willing to work on both everyday. I know it's going to be tiring, but you're not alone. Plenty of writers out there do the same thing and you don't want to be left behind. I know this novel has caused you grief. I don't like seeing a negative attitude coming from you. I want you to be positive and the only way I know to fix that is to see you writing. I need for you to write at least one hundred words a day which will get you to the point of completing the novel. Open up that resource "Writing Your Novel in Ninety Days" and follow it. Utilize the information in that resource and apply it. I liked a lot of what I had seen and I hope we can come to an agreement. Let's open it up and heed the advice. I get frustrated when you read these great resources and then you don't follow through. I believe you can do it and that is exactly what you need to do - just do it. I like these two goals so far but you need a few more. What do you have in mind? I want to know so that I can keep you on track. I know you like to read since I have seen your library. Your library is filled with writing resources and a few magazines. I would love to sit down with you and open up different magazines and books. Writers like to read different topics and subjects and I believe it will get those ideas stirred up. I need to stimulate myself with knowledge so that you don't think I left you for another person's mind. I want to continuously be massaged with new ideas that can be worked into stories. I don't want to shrivel up into dead space. I don't know if I've told you but I like this site a lot. This site will keep the ideas jumping and keep me from shriveling up. I believe this site is a breath of fresh air. I feel that you have gone into cardiac arrest a lot of times writing wise and I feel as though this site, Writing.com is an AED. Do you know what an AED is? An AED is an automatic emergency defibrillator and those paddles are rubbing together ready to bring you back to life. I'm glad we searched online for writing resources that night and found this site. I knew that I had to kick you in the writing pants to get those juices flowing. I could feel the tingling and the itch coming on. I'm glad the itch isn't as bad or the tingling. I feel you have the urge to keep me invigorated which makes me happy. I believe you and I will get a lot accomplished if we stick to it. Don't let those demons invade my space and I will work hard to help you. I'm not willing to share my space with anyone except for the ideas that float around your head. Keep that in mind and we will make it happen. I like the idea of sticking to it because if we didn't our goals would never get done. Maybe when we get these goals done you can motivate yourself in other areas. I would love to collaborate with you on participating in other contests whether on this site or another site. These contests are a great way of getting those thoughts out, keeping me occupied, and getting noticed. Even if we didn't get noticed the fulfillment of writing is awesome. I want to see many of your stories on bookshelves. I want your novel to be finished by November 17th so that you can give it to your son for his birthday. I know he was happy when you finished that children's story and gave it to him and your daughter. It would be great to see that enjoyment again. You better get cracking because the months seem to fly by each year. Have you thought about how you're going to publish your next book? I would suggest self publishing since that seems to be a viable option. It seems harder and harder to get those big publishers to notice the new guy. I know some self published authors who have gotten picked up by a big house which can happen to you. What are your thoughts? Hey, have you fallen asleep on me? I've done all the talking here and haven't heard much from you. I want you to let me know where you're at with all of this. I don't want to talk to myself. I want to hear something from you and if you respond then I know we are on the same page. Hello, my muse, I've heard and listened to everything you had to say. I agree with every word that you have said to me and I didn't fall asleep on you. I was taking all of what you said to heart and determining that it's time to get serious about my writing. This motivational speech that you have given has gotten me all raring to go. I'm not going to neglect you ever again and I believe this is the start of a beautiful friendship. I am motivated to sit everyday and write at least one hundred words a day and if I can, I will write longer. The more I can write each day the quicker I will finish my novel. I will get on this site everyday and be motivated by the other writers. I am eager to put down the remote, shut the TV off and keep you company Mr. Muse. I don't want any tension to hinder our goals. I want to work together to see the day when these goals are accomplished. I will give you a giant shout out that you were there for me and kept me going. I'm glad you are my muse and that no one else can take you from me. Our future looks bright knowing that we can brainstorm and keep the ideas popping. All I want to say to you is don't give up on me. I won't give up on you Jeff because I'm eager to see where we are going. Your life as a writer is going to get very exciting and I know the rewards will be great. This time that we had here was very uplifting to my spirits. I look forward to the next time when we can open up the imagination and pursue our goals. I like that we shared this time together. I believe there is a moment when things start clicking and that moment is now. Sometimes we need that little push to get us going and I'm here to give you that push. Maybe at the same time you can pass it on and do the same for someone else. Wouldn't that be an awesome goal if we can share in that moment? I would love to see a fellow writer aspire to reach new heights within the community because of our motivation. I think we'll do that Mr. Muse and pass it on. I'm going to find a new writer within the community and give them the encouragement that he or she needs. We started out where they are starting out and I would hate for them to lose that spark. We need excellent writers and I believe that will help others to reach that point. Mr. Muse, I want to express my gratitude for the motivation that you have implemented within me. Today starts a new chapter, no pun intended, where the goals that I've set forth are going to get done. I'm tired of the nonsense of setting goals and not fulfilling them. I've decided this has got to change or nothing will change. Mr. Muse, you have put your foot down and told me where it's at. I can't begin to tell you how important you are to my idea manufacturing plant. Well Jeff, this has been an enlightening day. Today will be the day that you can look back and say this is when your writing got some CPR. I was the resuscitation that your writing needed. Let's not go through this again because I need to be used. If you ever neglect me again I will be getting that AED out. Keep writing. Word Count: 2,056 |
