Doctor Who finds himself in Whoville in a Dr Seuss inspired poem |
The Doctor of Whoville by Paul S Edwards On a cold winter's night in the small town of Whoville a strange rhythmic sound came from upon the hill. Now this was no sound at all that had been heard before. It went STOMP STOMP STOMP then repeated once more. The town all agreed, that what had to be found, was the mysterious source, of the mysterious sound Then all of a sudden, out of thin air, a strange blue box, appeared in the town square. Out of the box chomping on a mince pie. stepped a smartly dressed man In a natty bow tie 'Hello,' the man said, in a dramatic style. 'I'm The Doctor' he added, then give a kind smile. The strange sound continued And The Doctor did hear. It was something he knew. It was something to fear. 'Keep them safe,' said the Doctor, to the Mayor of Whoville. before setting off at a pace, towards the sound on the hill. The Doctor walked briskly towards the loud stomping sound Then a voice from behind, made him turn around. Climbing the hill, what did he see? But a young Whoville boy shouting out 'Wait for me!' 'Who are you?' asked the Doctor to the shivering lad. 'I'm Jojo,' he said, 'The mayor's my dad.' 'Are, you scared?' asked the Doctor. Said Jojo, 'Yes, sir.' The Doctor smiled back. And said 'Excellent answer.' So the Doctor and Jojo climbed up the hill They stuck close together as they weathered the chill And what did they find when they came to the top? A very deep cave that brought them both to a stop Cautiously, slowly, they entered the cave Jojo switched on a torch. As he tried to be brave. The stomping continued echoing out through the air. Then the doctor did ask, 'Is anyone there?' The stomping sound stopped and a word did repeat. A synthesized voice Delete! Delete! Delete! 'Run' cried the Doctor And Jojo took flight. But the Doctor, he waited He thought 'Something's not right.' The Doctor had noticed the strange stomping sound didn't get louder. It just continued to pound. So the Doctor continued deeper into the gloom. To confront the creature to prevent the town's doom. And what did he find What did he view It was something expected and yet something new. There in the shadows. gathering dust, a Cyberman sat. covered in rust. It looked at the Doctor And with little ease. 'Help me,' it asked him, and then added, 'Please'. Now this was the last thing the Doctor thought he would hear. So he asked it a question. 'Why are you here?' 'A crash,' said the Cyberman 'Ship lost in a blaze.' 'I've been stuck in this planet.' 'for so many days.' The Doctor, he pondered. Then he said, 'Stuck?' He pondered some more. 'Cybermen don't say Stuck.' 'What was your name,' asked the Doctor. 'Before you became this?' The cyberman paused. Then answered 'Cryss'. Cryss was a young girl Happy, smart and genteel before the cybermen came and encased her in steel 'Come with me, said the Doctor. 'let's get you outside.' 'I can't let you suffer.' 'I can't let you hide.' While all this happened, outside the cave Jojo was waiting trying again to be brave. He waited and waited and waited some more. Then from out of the darkness. Two creatures he saw. 'Ahh, Jojo,' said The Doctor As he emerged from the cave ''This is my friend Cryss.' 'who we're going to save.' Slowly the three of them decended the hill. To the big blue box. Where the town waited, still. In no time at all, They had returned to the Square. And the people of Whoville could only but stare. This strange metal creature. from over the hill, filled the townsfolk with feelings of a deep fearful chill. 'Wait,' said Jojo 'There's no need to be wary.' 'Cryss, is a person, 'She only looks scary.' 'Right,' said the Doctor. 'No need to delay.' And pointing to the blue box, said 'Step right this way.' Iinto the Tardis stepped The Doctor and Cryss And the townsfolk did gasp when the blue box it did vanish. 'Where did it go?' People asked with concern. And in no time at all the blue box did return. 'Now,' said the Doctor stepping out of the Tardis I'd like you to meet, 'The new improved Cryss' Out from the box stepped a girl with blue hair With eyes of clear green, .It was a sight to declare. A man of his word, the Doctor had fixed her her body, mechanical her skin a fine rubber. The townsfolk did cheer and Cryss she did smile 'Can I stay,' she did ask, 'Just for a while?' The Doctor smiled back. This adventure was fun. 'Time to go,' he did mutter. His work here was done. So he said his goodbyes and returned to the Tardis and, despite all the rhyming, this place he would miss. The town all watched as the box disappeared And that was the last of him that anyone heard. But for many years later, stories would thrill, About a cyborg called Cryss And the Doctor of Whoville |
