A woman and her desire...can she defy it?
                                                                                                        The Bet

Pulling up to the stop light, she desperately attempts to fight back the overpowering urge building up inside her. She thinks about how glorious it will feel and how wondrous it will be to fulfill this burning desire. The anticipation itself is almost enough to send her over the edge, plunging deep into the bowels of her own lust. She begins to sweat. Beads of perspiration lightly tickle her upper lip. She rubs them away with her hand as she turns her gaze from the glaring red light that seems to warn her of her impending fate; the fate of indulging her desire. She frantically searches for an escape, an escape which will relieve her of the uncontrollable thought consuming her mind. Breathing heavily, she grips the steering wheel with both hands as if the pressure of it all will be released through her palms.

Calm down and relax she thinks, loud enough to drown out the urge screaming in her head. Beads of sweat now cascading from her brow, she rolls down her window. The fresh air brings little relief to the flames of her increasing lust. She swallows hard, exhaling the breath that was caught in her throat, almost making her choke. How much longer will this last? I can’t take much more of this. Thinking wildly she catches a drop of sweat that was about to fall into her eye. Her eyes flicker to the trees lining the street. She faintly sees a bird perched atop one of the trees. Good, this is helping, her mind says as she continues her optical journey.

Following the tree down its trunk, she scans the cars in the next lane and her anxiety is interrupted by a thought. Maybe I should buy a new car. She then realizes her fingers are squeezing and extremely gritty steering wheel, which in turn reminds her that she is still driving her high school graduation present; she was coming up on her fifteen year reunion. A faint smile breaks the tightness of her lips then she stops. She sucks in a sudden breath and sits paralyzed, staring at her one desire. He’s doing it! Why can’t I just give in? The driver of the car next to her is indulging in her own tantalizing sin; the fated outcome of her inevitable lack of will power.

She commands her head forward and defiantly gazes through the windshield. Feverishly panting now, her whole being aches for the sweet satisfaction that indulging in her desire would bring. Almost as if someone were compelling her, she can fight it no more. She slowly removes one hand from the steering wheel, watching her actions as if apart from her own body. She is overwhelmed by anticipation and the inevitable euphoria of the upcoming relief. She pulls her hand towards her with a methodical and almost mechanical movement, slowly bending her elbow in while folding three digits and her thumb together until they touch. Her mind racing, she finally accepts her fate.

With her finger now fully indulging her desire, or in this case her nose, she thoroughly cleans the inside of her nasal cavity. In mid-pick she slowly turns to her right and freezes. Her husband smiles delightedly as he holds out his hand, “Okay, a bets a bet, now hand over my $100 bucks babe.”
