The hands of a savior, tiny and pure
Wrestled free from the swaddling
To wave above the manger bed.
Good tidings are brought
And peace to all men,
A gift from above, to be sure.
The hands of a savior, calloused and strong
A carpenter’s instruments
Building foundations and paving the way,
The truth and the life
Part of God’s plan
Providing redemption for those who do wrong.
The hands of a savior, loving and kind
Miracle workers doing God’s bidding
Reaching out to sinners
The living water, the bread of life
Sharing stories and wisdom
That none should be left behind.
The hands of a savior, tortured and scarred
Betrayed by his friends
Asking the Father for strength
A sacrifice for the sake of my life
Atonement for sin
His purity now marred.
The hands of a savior, forgiving and warm
Crucified and buried
Yet He is risen again.
My intercessor, my friend, my mentor
Preparing my place
Until I weather life’s storm.
