all you need is 20 seconds of courage a day |
9.17.2013 A Poem about That Feeling of Butterflies The moment you walk toward her you suddenly seem aware of your swinging arms You try to conceal this awkward fact unaware that she finds that part of your charm Wait a beat before an embrace trying to time the release As you walk side by side trying to imagine what she sees Eyes glancing every which way trying to form some sort of connection The footsteps echoing loudly from the silence of a cynical confession You slide your hand into hers hoping to not be rebuke The tension of your body is more powerful than a juke....box Not wanting the moment to end but knowing it may not last How could one look into the future when they worry about the past She says something quietly and you suddenly awake with a start You look at her questioningly trying to read her heart She smiles and repeats it more loudly this time You fall silent as those words crash against your ears acting like a mime You wait a beat to reply "Yeah I'd like to see you again too" ...until the next time |
