A poem written on the fly one morning after a sleepless night
The ghosts that haunt my midnight nest,
Taunt my conscious with vicious unrest,
Playing the chimes of regrets still sore,
Salting the wounds of pain long worn.

Why the torment in this hour of sleepless,
Filling my soul with countless weakness,
I wish I had a different past,
So my midnight thoughts, once crying, now laughed.

Do you wish to taunt me and make me feel bad?
Like my life was a journey to make me feel sad?
Bringing up the past and all that I failed,
To make me ponder if I even prevailed.

I cannot help that I then made mistakes,
Please push your judgements to a different place,
Let me drift into a world of slumber,
The one I hear about in tales of wonder,

I am sorry my ghosts  but you must leave,
Take my worries and set me free,
Clean my spirit and free my soul,
So my midnight hauntings are far from show,

I know you made me who I am,
But your grip on regret is bring me down,
Set me free so I wake up clean,
To love a life of promise and dreams

My life is mine and mine to bare,
So leave me ghosts and your grasp on despair,
So I can walk a new path in soul and in mind,
And not worry for the ghosts that I left behind
