Granny’s Pumpkin Pie The leaves have changed, their colors bright. They dance and twirl in the sunlight partnered with a northern breeze. I marvel at their expertise. Thanksgiving and the family’s here though not as many as last year. Some have gone to a higher plane but more than memories remain. (Refrain) Turkey stuffed with Mom’s recipe on plates my Uncle left to me served with the wine my brother’d buy … and Granny’s pumpkin pie. Hands joined ‘round a love-filled table. Though they’re gone, they still are able to be a part of each holiday. It’s like they never went away. A prayer of thanks. Those gathered there each bring a memory to share. The family circle is complete with blessings shared before we eat.
