A contour trail—or perhaps a cumulus cloud—does the difference matter?
It is the same difference between all the things
to which we ascribe value, and
subjectivity. As the leaf that dwindles downward and the
plastic grocery sack scuttling across the street. Pretty,
you tell the first. Ugly, the second. But that is your value, and who knows
if it is mine?
We look for a center because humans love symmetry.
Symmetry is a value. What then is the difference between symmetry and balance?
And does it matter? And how can I do either? The questions in my head
are not symmetrical.
Neither, then, are the thoughts in my heart.
Is the heart a value? The heart values. And values—what can they matter when they are the difference? The difference between a contour trail and a cumulus cloud?
