Christmas on the prairie is special to me. A Country Music Lovers Entry
A Prairie Christmas

As I walk through the grasslands I look at the skies.
There on the hill top I see a surprise.
A tall old pine tree bathed in moon light,
stars clinging to branches twinkling bright.

The North Star shines at the top of the tree.
I look over the scene; it reminds me
of the birth of a child that freed us from hate
on this special day that we celebrate.

Refrain
Christmas on the prairie is special to me.
The moon and stars decorate my Christmas tree.
The wind sings me carols in sweet harmony.
No need for presents wrapped up with a bow –
each day is a gift whether sun, rain, or snow.

The stars fade away; snow begins to drift
blanketing the land. It's just one more gift;
a present from nature showing her care.
The world is at peace, there's a hush in the air.

The flutter of wings from quail in the brush;
the coyote's song brings an end to the hush.
The lowing of cattle joins sounds that now swell
in a song of praise that break the night's spell.

Refrain
Christmas on the prairie is special to me.
The moon and stars decorate my Christmas tree.
The wind sings me carols in sweet harmony.
No need for presents wrapped up with a bow –
each day is a gift whether sun, rain, or snow.

I sit by the fire, remembering
the beauty around me. It's such a blessing.
I drift off, at last, as I stare at the tree
with the best gift of all – knowing I'm free.

Refrain
Christmas on the prairie is special to me.
The moon and stars decorate my Christmas tree.
The wind sings me carols in sweet harmony.
No need for presents wrapped up with a bow –
each day is a gift whether sun, rain, or snow.
