The flowers


They were meant to make you smile
I hope they were as pretty as you
I'm not sure if you even saw them
All I know is you sent them away

I walked away without seeing them
I know now it was the right thing to do
I knew that if you rejected them
They'd haunt me like my memories of you

They sit somewhere now all alone
Unwanted like the love that sent them
They'll slowly whither and fade away
Like the dreams I had for me and you

I feel so sad and sorry for them now
Sitting there unwanted and alone
Maybe if I would have just left them
They might have found a happy home

I know now how they must feel
To be turned away from your eyes
But I can say that at least we tried
