Alas! When I remember
yesterday, upon this silken cover,
came the clear melody of zither
accompanied by her song and laughter.
Green silk gown and red stomacher,
sleeves embroidered with flower petals.
Upon her head were countless pearls.
A maiden, dreamy like ethereal flower.
Yet far, far away she had withered
vanished into the Palace of Amber.
Hanging curtains were spread, covering her
with funeral gong and incense burner.
Alas! The beauty of her jade body,
her bosoms pure white and silky,
the eyes closed forever in eternity,
never again shall I see those glory.
A beauty fitted for the Palace of Kings,
even in death's grip she was bewitching.
This maiden, so beautiful and charming
has become a mere dream of the Spring.
