A stone
My load
Heavier
Does it grow
So tired
I’ve become
Nothing else
Not another ounce
Can I manage to carry
My arms are numb
My back is broken
These hands bruised
Bloodied from overuse
My eyes endless
And wide
Deep into my soul
Everyone that looks at me
Knows
They truly understand
The load that I
Not any of them
Must carry always
God way above
Passes his judgment
The devil far below
Presents his resentment
Between both I am pulled
I cannot get a chance
I was never meant to
I will die
Hauling around
What is
And has always been
Mine
I will suffer long between
Now and the end
A stone
My load
Heavier
Does it grow
So tired
I’ve become
Nothing else
Not another ounce
Can I carry
My load
Engraved
Enslaved
Words to you
Upon the page
To be carved
Upon this soul
Presented as
My burdensome stone
A weight to be tolled
Poundage to be compiled
Added up right and true
The sum means most
And I of course
Will be held to it
I will be required to pay
For my load with my life
After it is dropped
Let go of
Released
Set completely free
It will be placed upon my grave
Marking the end of my days
And the ways in which I lived
While I was here
Upon God’s and the devil’s
To me, burdensome earth…
