Before we begin this story, I would like to describe what the world is like in this work of fiction.

The setting is on an alternate Earth where cell-shaded cartoon characters, kind of like the film "Who Framed Roger Rabbit", are as common as humans and are seen as normal equals. Unlike humans, these toon people are able to do things like fall from infinite heights and being crushed by tons of weight without dying or getting injuries. Not only that, but some of them can also shrink things like cars or houses and even people. Toon people can also eat things whole that're the same size as them or even bigger, especially humans.

Whenever a toon eats a human, they'll mostly let them out whenever their body is completely done digesting them. Thanks to the field of science, the humans don't need to fear being eaten or killed as they can be "reborn" through reformation. Using sophisticated science, they're able inject micro repair units inside a person. Should said person gets killed from a gunshot or stab wound, the repair units work to restore the damage. But if a person gets killed by being being crushed to death or digested alive by a toon, the repair units will send information and memories of the deceased to the closest reforming facility. It takes up to 12-hours to fully complete the process and imprint the new body with the memories of the old destroyed body. Once done, they'll inject fresh repair units into the new body.

However good this is, it does nothing to stop the natural aging process of the human body. And if the perosn dies of old age, the repair units inside of the person will deactive and "die". This prevents people from getting the idea of being "Mr./Ms. Immortal". The repair unit injections are given to only those who want it, such as special agancies/militaries or film industries.
