Struggle of Depression
How do you stop an invisible pain?

How do you stop the bleeding that you cannot see?

How do you drown out the noise of sorrow?

There is no one to take these pains away.

There is no one to provide a band-aid.

There is no one with the right song.

You want to be courageous and valiant

And give it all you’ve got.

But the want for an un-nameable feeling

Is so beyond your grasp,

And you know it.

How do you continue when you know the end of the story?

It isn’t a tragedy or even dramatic.

It just is.

I want to feel a light at the end of the tunnel.

I want to know that this isn’t what it is.

I want to feel a comfort in just being.

I want to be calm.

I want the storm to end.

Can we wish for the rain to wash it all away?

Can we hope for greater things to come?

How can you get so many things right,

Yet feel like you’ve done so wrong?

How easy it is to pretend.

How easy it is to hide everything.

There are few who recognize the trauma,

And they want to help in ways they never can.

How do you tell someone that there is no answer?

That tears cannot just be wiped away,

And you cannot cry yourself out.

How do you tell someone that there is such a feeling

As an emptiness that has no words, no title.

That you cannot explain it.

That you cannot understand it.

That you cannot fight it.

The emptiness is who and what you are.

How do you live with yourself?

Going on is the only answer,

Yet you feel it is an existence that is meaningless.

You can strive to be successful,

Knowing in the end that there isn’t a reason to be.

I know the things that I want in life,

But I have no idea why and what they will do for me.

The scariness is knowing that no matter how great

You think you are doing;

But it having no meaning.

The wanting is a great feeling,

But in the end there is nothing to show for it.

What is the point in wanting five minutes of happiness?
